Developed in close alignment with European standardisation bodies, these solutions are independently tested and certified to withstand attacks using the latest high-powered tools now available on the market.
Gunnebo has played an active role in the development of European burglary resistance certification standards since the 1980s. Our commitment reflects our broader mission to deliver solutions engineered for real-life attack scenarios. In 2019, the standard was revised to introduce a new option: EN 1143-1 T2 certification. This enabled independent testing bodies to expand the scope of attack tools beyond those used in the original specification. As part of this evolution, T2 certification testing now includes solid explosive testing, gas explosion testing, and core drill attack testing.
While certified solutions had shown no major weaknesses under the previous toolset, which included core drilling and explosive testing, the rise of more powerful and accessible tools prompted the need for a more advanced certification option.
T2 Testing with Electric Disc Cutters
Now rated at 1350 Watts (previously 800 W), these upgraded tools use thinner, more abrasive discs for faster and deeper cuts. Their improved performance has significantly raised the bar in T2 certified testing.
T2 Testing with Hole Cutters and Circular Saws
Latest DIY-available tools such as carbide and tungsten-tipped saws have proven highly effective against traditional barrier designs. These are now explicitly included in T2 burglary resistant evaluations.

Frequently employed by the film industry to create dramatic visual impact, these tools are a genuine threat when it comes to attacking vault doors and strong rooms. T2 certification ensures products are tested to withstand them.
T2 Testing Electric Building Hammers
