Asia’s largest SafeStore Auto installation reflects the growing customer demand for safe deposit boxes in Singapore

Customers investing in precious metals and gems are increasingly demanding instant access to secure storage. In spring 2019, due to this rising need, Singapore G Pte Ltd, a private Singaporean service operator, commissioned the installation of a large Gunnebo SafeStore Auto Maxi automated locker facility. Boasting an impressive 4,251 lockers, this installation is by far the largest in Asia and, most importantly, offers 24/7 access, all year round.

Security is multi-faceted, including around-the-clock monitoring of more than 100 analytical CCTV cameras and the support of an award-winning security team. To celebrate the inauguration in spring 2019, hosted a lavish opening ceremony. The event was attended by bankers, businessmen, media and high net worth individuals.

The Challenge

Logistically the project was challenging and the Gunnebo team had to work to very tight deadlines. The installation of the facility required the tactical coordination of 12 shipping containers from 3 different factories around the world. Moreover, installation was required on the 3rd floor of an existing building, with floor loading restrictions, strict fire regulations and the need to reposition and reinforce walls. Gunnebo Safe Storage's global engineering team expertly installed the rental locker facility supported by a local partner and Gunnebo employees from Singapore and Malaysia.
