Our safes, strong rooms and vault doors are tested and certified in line with European Standard (EN) and international security standards, covering burglary resistance, fire resistance, and explosions.

T2 Certification Meeting Modern Threats

T2 certification represents the evolution of EN 1143-1, addressing attacks with high-powered tools like electric disc cutters, thermal lances, and building hammers. Gunnebo vault doors and strong rooms are tested to withstand these advanced threats, ensuring real-world security—not just theoretical compliance. 

Gunnebo Safe Storage has played an active role in the development of European burglary resistance standards since the 1980s. Our commitment to certification reflects our broader mission: to deliver solutions engineered for real-life attack scenarios, not just theoretical ones. 

T2 Certification in Practice

Gunnebo’s certified vault doors and modular strong rooms meet the most stringent burglary resistance requirements. Developed in close alignment with European standardisation bodies, these solutions are independently tested and certified to withstand attacks using modern, high‑performance versions of established attack tools now available on the market.

In 2019, EN 1143‑1 was revised to introduce a new option, T2, allowing the use of more powerful and more effective versions of attack tools already included in the standard, reflecting their increased accessibility and capability. This complements existing options: 
 

• EX: Solid explosive testing 

• GAS: Gas explosion testing (applies to ATM safes only) 

• CD: Core drill attack testing 
  

While certified solutions had shown no major weaknesses under the previous tool requirements, the rise of more powerful and widely available tools prompted the introduction of the T2 option. T2 ensures that vault doors and strong rooms are ready to withstand attacks using today’s most capable cutting, impact, and thermal tools, including:
