Gunnebo Safe Storage
Slovenia & Serbia sites
Gunnebo Safe Storage’s Slovenia and Serbia sites, known as Primat, play a pivotal role in our European manufacturing strategy, specialising in the production of certified safes and secure cabinets. With a heritage dating back to 1901, these sites are built on tradition, quality, and a strong local presence—perfectly aligned with our “in region, for region” strategy.
Following Gunnebo’s strategic acquisition of the Primat Group in October 2024, we’ve reinforced our commitment to regional growth, innovation, and customer-centric solutions. With over a century of craftsmanship and robust investments in manufacturing and skills development, these sites ensure fast, high-quality delivery to customers across Europe while reducing lead times and environmental impact.

Core Capabilities
Manufacturing Expertise
Since 1901, Primat has produced certified safes, safes for cash registers, vault doors, cabinets, racks, and other security-oriented metal furniture. At both sites, traditional craftsmanship meets modern manufacturing—enabling both large-scale production and bespoke solutions to meet exacting customer demands.

Certifications & Standards
Our operations are governed by stringent quality systems, including ISO 9001 and EN standard compliance. Primat’s products undergo thorough testing before leaving the factory, ensuring robust, certified defence for valuables.
Our People & Excellence
Primat’s strength lies in its people—over 180 skilled employees across Slovenia and Serbia, including engineers, production staff, and sales professionals. The team’s dedication to excellence across both sites fosters continuous learning, innovation, and a shared purpose. Our employer brand emphasises safety, professional growth, and inclusivity. Through apprenticeship schemes and development programs, we nurture talent and uphold a workplace culture where every individual contributes to delivering secure, reliable products

At Primat by Gunnebo Safe Storage, we are proud of our heritage and even prouder of our people. Our commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainable manufacturing is what drives us forward every day. It’s not just about what we make — it’s about how we make it, and who we make it with.

Innovation & Customer‑Centricity
Sustainability Initiatives
Innovation drives Primat’s success. With our own R&D teams and agile production lines, we respond rapidly to evolving customer needs—be it in certified safes or custom cabinets. Embedded in the region, we understand local markets and deliver tailored solutions with speed and precision.
Since Gunnebo’s acquisition in October 2024, substantial investments have enhanced production capabilities, skills training, and innovation tools—strengthening our ability to meet European demand.
Sustainability is integral to Primat’s future. We employ recycled steel and concrete in our manufacturing, extend product lifecycles through refurbishment, and ensure recyclability at end-of-life. Energy and waste optimisation are embedded in daily operations, reflecting our commitment to a sustainable, resilient supply chain.
Strategic Acquisition and Growth
The Primat sites in Maribor (Slovenia) and Baljevac (Serbia) became part of the Gunnebo Safe Storage group through a full acquisition in October 2024.
This strategic move was designed to:
- Expand Gunnebo’s European Production Network – reinforcing our position in safes and cabinets manufacturing.
- Boost Customer-Centric Innovation – enabling rapid response to market demands, delivering bespoke and standard solutions close to customers .
- Drive Sustainability – localising production to reduce transportation emissions and support Gunnebo’s carbon reduction goals.
- Invest in People and Facilities – committing significant funds to modernise manufacturing, enhance skill development, and foster future-ready teams.
Together, these initiatives make Primat an essential part of Gunnebo’s mission to deliver secure, reliable storage solutions tailored to regional needs.
